Den Matek

It is Mother's Day in the Czech Republic so we went with our friends, Michal and Dasa, to her mum and dad's house for lunch and for a carnival. (I am not sure why we have no pics of the carnival...hmmm). Pan a Pani Horvath (Dasa's parents) were completely hospitable and super warm and welcoming. The girls were instructed to call her "babicka" (grandma) and Pan Horvath spent the day swinging them on his rope swing. Pani Horvathova made rizek and svickova YUM!!! for lunch and many kinds of moucnik (dessert). Rebekah and her friends, Aneta and Veronika, walked to the village square to go to the carnival (by themselves)...this was a big step for me as a mum. We gave her money and she came back full of cotton candy and many prizes. Then we all walked to the carnival and rode on rides and I tried a bb gun shooting game. Everyone was laughing hysterically at me because I have never shot a gun before and I was totally stupid at it. Ludek (the husband of one of my friends) was laughing so hard he had to walk away... We spent the rest of the afternoon talking (in czech and in german and czech with Pan Horvath), eating more food as Pani Horvathova brought more and more food out. It was a lovely Den Matek (Mother's Day)
