Ve Tride...In the Classroom
Here is Rebekah's classroom. She is going to the 4th grade. She is seated next to her friend, Dominika. I also captured the rest of the girls from her class, all of whom are Rebekah's friends. From the back on the left, Magda, Sarka, Jana and Hana.
Then there is Roxie in her classroom. She already has 7 friends, she told me, and a boy who she thinks is cute. His name is Peta.
In the last picture Roxie is wearing the Cone of Confusion. It is called that because it's purpose is so confusing. Last year on the first day of school I spied many, many first graders carrying these very same cones. Not wanting Roxie to feel left out this year, I purchased a cone for her at the local paper shop. I inquired there as to there purpose of The Cone and the shopkeeper told me she didn't know save to say that she thought the tradition of the cones came from America and why didn't I know what they were for seeing as I hail from the US. So, having purchased The Cone I set out to discover it's purpose. The friends I asked either had no idea or a smattering of opinions ranging from a container for candy handed out on the first day of school to a type of Trick or Treat basket for a candy hunt at school. For as many kids who I had seen carrying The Cone last year, I was surprised that many people were unaware of it's existence altogether. On the first day of school noone, I mean noone, except for Roxie had The Cone. So the mayor decided to wear it as a hat and pretend to be Albus Dumbledore (known as Albus Brumbal in Czech). Thus was born the Cone of Confusion. (oh, and there was, to Roxie's great chagrin, no candy.)
