Pečeme rohličky na Vánoce...We are baking rohličky for Christmas

My dear friend, Ana, and I are baking Christmas cookies. Czechs take their cukrovy (cookies) very seriously here. It is almost like a contest, who knows how to make more kinds of cukrovy. Ana knows about 20, my friend Lenka knows about 15, these guys are the champs. Many know only 7-10 types. These cukrovy are like artwork. When I receive a box of them from Ana I will take a picture for you...it is amazing. Today she has taught me how to make rohličky. We had to make the dough, form the shapes, bake them and then while still hot, roll them in sugar. They are very similar to Russian tea cakes if you have ever had those. She told me that next year she will teach me another kind. So, I will have to stay here for 20 years to learn all the kinds that she knows how to make!! On a side note, she was astonished at how dirty the inside of my oven was. So she spent a long time cleaning it and she wouldn't let me help. It had to be done just so, so that the cookies would turn out right. I was embarrassed, yet secretly delighted as I now have a clean oven...
