Advent is a time to think of others needs...
This one hurts...
My family wants a pet...
I hate messes...
I dislike disorder...
I am not spontaneous...
I am really no fun...
I am not easy-going...
And then we met Scriffers.
Scriff is a stray whom we met in the spring. He was a kitten then. Sometimes we would give him food and play with him outside. Roxie fell in love immediately, but I think Dan hesitated to as he knew I hated the thought of an animal in our house and we really had no idea if he belonged to anyone. After returning from our 6 weeks in the States, there was Scriffers. All summer long he would hang out outside with us, sometimes jumping on me when I was sunbathing. He allowed Roxie to carry him everywhere like a baby. Dan would sometimes sneak Scriff into the house unbeknownst to me and much to my chagrin. Once, I found a cat hair (A CAT HAIR!) on my sofa. I freaked. Over the fall months something slowly started to change within me not unlike what happened to the Grinch. I saw thw joy Scriffers was bringing to my whole family and one cat hair turned into several (SEVERAL!) cat hairs and about a week ago I held Scriffers for the first time. I liked it. I enjoyed the purring sound and the furry warmth. He doesn't smell too bad and he is really easy-going (might I learn a thing or too?). Mostly, I feel that my acceptance of Scriff in our house is an act of love for my family and one for Scriff as 17 below zero temperatures are hard on the critters. One small act of love can mean so much to someone else. It doesn't hurt too much. In fact, it is quite enjoyable.

All I can say is: IT'S ABOUT TIME! LOL. You guys will love Sriffers. He's unconditional love and constant purring will hopefully outweigh his smellyness and occasional hairball. What a Christmas present! =)
