Be kind and merciful. Let no one ever come to you without coming away better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness.
-- Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Is it so much to ask? A kind word, a smile, a listening ear? Many times I find myself so focused on me and my situation that I disregard the needs of others. After thinking yesterday about ways we can give our money to those in need, I found myself confronted by how easy it is to give money but how difficult it is to give time. That for me is a sacrifice. Even small moments during the day can have such an impact. How many times I could have glorified God by showing love to someone and I simply didn't take the time. A simple gesture of kindness, a whisper of mercy, a drop of friendship can heal a wounded spirit. Through this Advent season I want God to change me and carve away the old and rotting, the foul and odorous until all that is left is a representation of His Son. Right now I am reading throught the Gospel of Luke to remind myself how Jesus lived, what he did and how he treated people. People are His greatest treasure...what is mine? What is yours?

it's Advent...what can you

for others?
