life in this republic
snow art

Shoveling snow is a daily occurence here. There are waist-high mounds every few feet along the streets. Soon there will be no where to put the snow. A few years ago, so we are told, there was so much snow that it was like walking in a labyrinth. We have noticed that many families make igloos from their mounds of snow. One set of kids built an igloo in our neighbor's driveway blocking access to his car. It was fun to watch his expression and consequent outburst and fit from the safety of our second-story window. Well, being American (i.e. different), Dan took the opportunity a morning off of work afforded and built not an igloo, but the Titanic out of our mound. He told me that one neighbor lady just stared at him the whole hour he was building it. Those Wacky Americans! What will they think of next! (hearty guffaw).

Absolutely love the Titanic - just awesome. How about posting a couple of neighborhood igloos too.

When I first saw Dan´s Titanic it occured me at once it looks like the Czech economy (= Czech flag) going surely and fearlessly forward to its destiny.
