life in this republic
friendship club

Townshend International School, here in our town, is hosting a "Friendship Club" so their students and our students can interact and so that ours can improve their English. Pictured here are the students playing an icebreaker game. It was really fun to see the two groups of kids warm up to each other despite the language barrier. The culture of the international school is, as you can imagine, very different from the culture at our local Czech school. The kids at Townshend speak English, wear uniforms, are on average from wealthy families, hail from all over the world, and are adhering to a very strict code of ethics taught at the school. Our kids from the Czech school are a bit more "colorful", almost completely homogeneously Czech, and more often than not, just trying to survive their school day.I really see the richness of both school cultures and I think it is a neat idea to bring them together and influence each other a bit to the good. I will keep you posted as "Friendship Club" progresses.
