veering from the norm...
I am taking a day off of my usual blog posting schedule to update you on my first Czech speaking engagement. I was so nervous, I felt nauseous. Those of you who know me know that I am no stranger to the stage. But in a foreign language? I felt like it was one of those nightmares where you forgot to wear your clothes. Fortunately, I was really well prepared and that made all the difference. I prayed alot, asking God that He would be glorified through this regardless of my language deficiency. I also reminded myself that it is better to take my time speaking and allow for pauses so I can calmly collect my thoughts, rather that speed through it and possibly get confused. All in all, I think I did a good job. No stuttering, babbling, no panic and I said everything that I wanted with very few mistakes. It was understandable and I even made them laugh a couple of times...on purpose.
I may do this again if my stomach and heart can handle it. Surely, the second time around would be easier.
