cultivating virtue
St. Valentine
What is love? Is it merely a romantic feeling, a quickening of the pulse or a warm blush of the cheeks? Or is it a decisive action which puts the needs of another above your own, an action which eases the burden of another?

love [luhv] noun, verb, loved, lov⋅ing.
–noun
1.
a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
2. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
3. sexual passion or desire.
4. a person toward whom love is felt; beloved person; sweetheart.

How do we show love...today of all days? Valentine's Day has been reduced to stale chocolates, sterile greeting cards and wilted roses. Forget these things and act lovingly. Today we will help one another, complain not and ease burdens, thus making life more enjoyable for those we love.

an act of love

What you are looking at is a Valentine's Day gift from friends who love us. An act of love comprised of necessities and delights shouldered halfway around the world to bring us joy. They are carrying for us a burden so that we will be blessed. Who's burden can you carry today as a blessing wrapped in an act of love?

Happy Valentine's Day

I feel like a beast of burden from the old world. Just kidding...it's so fun to know how much the little things mean. =)
