Detsky Domov...Children's Home

... At church my girls had received cards with ideas for people to pray about. My oldest daughter, Rebekah, received a card that said "Please pray for the children in children's homes" (institutions for orphans or abandoned children or those with physical or mental handicaps). We began talking about what these places are like and what it would be like to not have a mommy or daddy or family.
We did a little research online and found some information about detsky domovy (children's homes) here in the Czech Republic. We talked and prayed together, and it seems that God has put a burden on our hearts...especially Rebekah's...for children who are lonely and hurting. Danny and I have always been open to adopting an older child who has not received love, and the girls want to share the love of God with those who do not know that there is a God who created them and who loves them. I (Krista) have worked with adults with mental handicaps and feel that God has taught me so much through them.
So, last night as we talked and prayed, my girls hearts were broken for those kids who don't feel loved. They wept in their beds thinking of what they have that many will never experience. We are not sure what road this will take us down, but we are sure that a seed was planted yesterday and we will see what this will grow into. We will do some research and see if we can start visiting a home and develop relationships with some kids, even just to show them some love, to share with them the love that God has for all of us. Rebekah has been thinking of ways even to make some money to buy toys for the kids.
I will keep you posted...we know we are here in CZ for a reason and it will be interesting to look back and see what it is.
