Invitation to a changed life
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

I want to be an example of a virtuous woman to my two daughters. I want to abide in the Holy Spirit so as to bear fruit...specifically this week, the fruit of self-control. Anger, lecturing, scolding, laziness to be supplanted by love, patience, mercy, faithfulness. I want to think before I say anything, asking "Will this please the Lord?" and "Will this show love?".
The girls and I are embarking on a ten week study of Virtues. Using the Bible and The Book of Virtues by William Bennett as our guides we will read and pray and discuss what God needs to change in us, what we need to cultivate by the choices we make and what we need to put into practice in our lives. To glorify God and to show His love to others...simply, to be more like Him.

While we are studying self-control we are reading these rules of civility. I think this ought to be taught in schools...here's a sample
George Washington's Rules of Civility
Every action in company ought to be with some sign of respect to those present.
Show not yourself glad at the misfortune of another, though he were your enemy.
