Invitation to a changed life
on the path to the the mountain top
Every now and then we must meet God on a mountain top.
Yesterday was one of those days.
You see, something is hurting me inside.
My daughter is struggling and I, as her mum, struggle too.
The solution I desire is so far-fetched as to take a miracle and I am having trouble trusting God to take care of my precious little girl.
So, yesterday I met Him on the mountain top.
I told Him my troubles and I cried and I asked Him for help.
He was there with me as I sat on the edge of the cliff on a tree and looked out on the river.
I gave Him my little girl and asked Him to do a miracle, but not my will be done but His.
For He loves her far more than I.
He knows her far better than I.
And His plans for her are good.
I asked the Holy Spirit to remind me that my God is trustworthy.
All I know of faithfulness is myself...someone who will let you down.
But God is unique, I can trust Him.
Last night I was reading Luke 7 about the Centurion and his faith. I want faith like that.
When he finished speaking to the people, he entered Capernaum. A Roman captain there had a servant who was on his deathbed. He prized him highly and didn't want to lose him. When he heard Jesus was back, he sent leaders from the Jewish community asking him to come and heal his servant. They came to Jesus and urged him to do it, saying, "He deserves this. He loves our people. He even built our meeting place." Jesus went with them. When he was still quite far from the house, the captain sent friends to tell him, "Master, you don't have to go to all this trouble. I'm not that good a person, you know. I'd be embarrassed for you to come to my house, even embarrassed to come to you in person. Just give the order and my servant will get well. I'm a man under orders; I also give orders. I tell one soldier, 'Go,' and he goes; another, 'Come,' and he comes; my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." Taken aback, Jesus addressed the accompanying crowd: "I've yet to come across this kind of simple trust anywhere in Israel, the very people who are supposed to know about God and how he works."
