daybook

march 30

Outside my window...overcast and chilly...but it was sunny all day and pretty warm, so I am not complaining.

From the kitchen...dutch babies

DUTCH BABIES

1/4 c. butter
3 eggs
3/4 c. milk
3/4 c. flour

Place the butter in the pan and set in a 425 degree oven. While the butter melts, mix the batter quickly. Put eggs in blender or food processor and whirl for 1 minute. With motor running, add milk, then flour. Remove pan from oven and pour in batter. Bake until puffy and well browned (20 to 25 minutes).
Dust the Dutch Baby with powdered sugar or nutmeg. It may be topped with fruit or syrup or pie filling. Each Dutch bakes in a unique shape and is spectacular when it first comes out of the oven.

I am wearing...a black and grey dress with black tights and black high-heeled boots.

Pondering these words...Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather is one of those things that give value to survival."

- C. S. Lewis

I am thankful for...my friend, Martina, who just came to visit. She is 5 months pregnant and glowing. It was fun to talk baby stuff with her.

I am going...to go to bed earlier tonight. I waited up to see Danny last night when he got home from work. I really miss him. It was hard to wake up at 5 this morning...

I am reading...I am in between books right now. Yesterday I finished "The Forest of Hands and Teeth" by Carrie Ryan. Now I am bookless. And sad.

I am hearing...kids playing video games while dinner bakes in the oven. They were just out for a few hours on the trampoline with their friend and I think they are beat.

Around the house...the hideout is done! We painted (I should say I painted) all afternoon and evening on Saturday. It has the Super Mario Brothers theme and is quite cute. I painted stars on the ceiling so all of their friends could sign their name to a star.

I am hoping...for a beautiful day on Friday when we go to do the stations of the cross in Řimov.

One of my favorite things..."Midnight Sun" sneak peek. I have been reading this Twilight series addition by Stephenie Meyer online. It is the first book told from Edward's perspective. I am a Twilight fan and I am OK with that.

A few plans for the rest of the week: a trip to Prague with my family. We will go to see a movie (maybe Alice in Wonderland) and get sushi. We are very excited.

A picture thought I am sharing...
