a few of my favourite things
blueberries

In the forest surrounding our house  are fields ripe with wild blueberries. One could spend all day picking and return home with kilos for making desserts, conserves, for freezing and munching. Wild blueberries are very small, about the size of a pea, but have a intense flavor. Wild forest fruit has its own special quality. Over the next few weeks, up and down the main roads of our cities, blueberry vendors will be plying their wares, luring motorists to pull over by brazenly displaying clear glass jars filled to the brim with globular succulent blueberries. I can hardly wait...mmm...

Pictured here are Canadian blueberries that I am cultivating in our garden, They are massive and I absolutely love the spectrum of color as they are ripening. Breathtaking as they range from a mossy sage green to an exquisite indigo. Eagerly we are awaiting their ripening so they can be consumed whilst slathered in a Czech concoction of vanilla sugar, sour cream and tvaroh (along the lines of cream cheese mixed with clotted cream). YUMMY!!!

Yum! I remember those blueberries. Nothing compares to them here in the States.
